Iris Automation Selects Robotic Skies For Aftermarket Installation, Maintenance

Produces Avionics For Unmanned Aircraft Systems

Iris Automation has selected Robotic Skies as an aftermarket installation and field maintenance partner for its line of avionics products designed for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). As part of the agreement, Robotic Skies will provide sales, installations, and ongoing field support for Iris Automation customers through its global network of independently owned and operated certified aircraft service centers.

Iris Automation is a venture-backed high tech computer vision company that is working to build groundbreaking new ways for drones and unmanned systems to perceive and navigate the world. Currently, industrial drone systems are not trusted to fly Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) or be completely autonomous; Iris is changing that by equipping UAS with the ability to intelligently see and react to the physical world. The product is a sophisticated computer vision algorithm packaged into a physical, plug-and-play perception unit that adds tremendous value to unmanned systems operators as it enables them to overcome regulatory, insurance, trust and safety concerns.

“With the commercial UAS industry projected to grow to over $100B worldwide by 2025, expertise necessary to install, maintain, and support crucial technology like the Iris Automation Collision Avoidance System will be invaluable,” said Alex Harmsen, Iris Automation CEO. “We are pleased to work together with Robotic Skies in this regard in order to expand safe and routine BVLOS operations around the globe.”

Robotic Skies is a brokered network of over 150 certified repair stations across 35 countries,  providing inspection and maintenance services for commercial UAS.  Each service center in the network possesses the aviation expertise and factory training to ensure the mission readiness of these aircraft. Robotic Skies offers comprehensive turnkey field service programs designed to keep UAS flying safely, efficiently and affordably.

“Onboard Detect-and-Avoid capabilities will be critical to unmanned aircraft integration in the National Airspace System,” said Brad Hayden, President and CEO of Robotic Skies. “Iris Automation has a ground-breaking product offering that will help enable Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, and we are excited to be selected as their field service partner.”
