Kissimmee Sees Hangar Expansions

Sheltair to Add 40,000 Square Feet of Parking Space in 2.7 Acres of Hangars

The City of Kissimmee’s Economic Development Department has approved the construction of new hangars at Florida's Kissimmee Gateway Airport, choosing Sheltair for the work.

The portfolio of Sheltair-managed and built facilities there already includes about 115,973 square feet across 86 individual hangar units. The new construction will span about 2.70 acres, adding 3 new hangars and 9 "oversized" t-hangars for a total of 17,622 square feet of parking space. That's not all, as 10 box hangars measuring 50 by 50 feet will add another 25,000 square feet to the Sheltair kingdom, allowing Kissimmee to hold a wide array of light and twin aircraft. The box hangars will sport hydraulic doors "tailored to meet the needs of modern-day pilots", and will also "embody the spirit of innovation", whatever that may be. All in all, the new expansions will add almost 40,000 square feet of hangar space to the airport, to be completed by summer of 2024.

"Kissimmee Gateway Airport is experiencing significant aviation growth," said Shaun Germolus, the City of Kissimmee’s Director of Aviation. "Sheltair's hangar facility expansion will assist us in accommodating the needs of our aviation community and allow for continued positive economic impact to the City of Kissimmee. We value our partnership with Sheltair and look forward to serving even more pilots and aircraft owners thanks to this expansion."
