Avionica Announces September Launch Of New Cellular Module

Designed For Faster High-Speed Transmission Of Flight Safety Data To Meet FOQA

Aircraft satellite communications equipment manufacturer Avionica announced at LBACE Tuesday it plans to release a new cellular module operating on the 4G bandwidth that transmits flight data analysis up to six times faster than previous 3G modules and is compatible with the company’s miniature quick access recorders (QAR) and support tools.

“As data capture increasingly becomes a requirement for all types of analysis, the new 4G avCM is a simple solution that makes our QAR products faster, more reliable and less expensive for streaming and capturing flight safety data with our company’s 4G cellular module. It is fully compatible with our leading miniQAR MKIII and avSYNC support tools,” said Raul Segredo, president and CEO of Avionica.

Other features of the 4G avCM include:

  • Up to 6x faster than 3G cellular modules
  • Integrated internal cellular antenna
  • Scratch resistant black anodized coating
  • Ethernet based Ground Support interface
  • In compliance with approved model list (AML) certified type certificate (STC) on 250 aircraft types, including almost every business jet and turboprop
FAA certification expected in 3rd Q 2015

The 4G avCM is fully compatible with Avionica’s Mini QAR MARK III, which weighs only 8 ounces and full installation weight is under 3 pounds. The Mark II and Mark III products are installed and capturing data on more than 7,000 aircraft. When combined with Avionica’s avSYNC flight data analysis software, the service guarantees all flight data is uploaded within 24 hours or less of flight operations.
