Textron Adds Streamlined 560XL Gear Repair Procedure

Revised Process More Efficient, Affordable than Prior Arrangement

A new option for owners and operators of the Cessna Citation 560XL has been added thanks to the efforts of Textron Aviation and Able Aerospace Services, allowing for "significant Main Landing Gear repairs without a full replacement".

That's great news for owners, since it reduces downtime and provides a similar service to a whole-gear replacement with a more cost-effective approach, always appreciated when the bizjet bills come rolling in. The revised procedure is now accepted as standard any time the Citation 560XL requires landing gear service. The first new Main Landing Gear repair capability was originally announced for the Cessna Citation CJ platform in 2020, available throughout the Textron Aviation service network anywhere in the world. Textron specifically mentioned the assistance of Able Aerospace, their maintenance-focused subsidiary, in getting the new procedure into play.

Their brand-agnostic, full-service experience undoubtedly came in useful in reassessing exactly how much of the original assembly could be safely repaired and overhauled, given Able’s work on Boeing, Airbus, and similar aircraft. When compared against the main landing gear assembly of a 737 as seen in their company press, Able probably found the little Citation's pretty simple.

“Our priority is delivering the best aviation experience for our customers, and having the option to repair main landing gear gives customers additional flexibility when servicing their aircraft,” said Brian Rohloff, senior vice president, Customer Support. “This investment in a new solution for Citation 560XL aircraft supports reducing operating costs and minimizing aircraft downtime so that we can keep our customers moving.”
