Counter-Drone Tech Monitors El Paso Air Show Airspace

D-Fend Provides Takeover Capability To Prevent Rogue Drone Intrusion

D-Fend Solutions partnered with El Paso International Airport (KELP) to successfully implement a pilot project to monitor the airspace during the recent Amigo AirSho, using advanced counter-drone technology to protect the restricted airspace and attendees from intrusion by unauthorized drones.

After a hiatus of twelve years, the Amigo Airsho returned to the airport for a two-day show that drew 60,000 guests. The show provided acrobatic aerial performances and a wide variety of static aircraft displays. To protect airshow performers and enthusiasts enjoying the displays, D-Fend’s counter-drone solution, Enforce Air, was used to monitor the grounds and surrounding airspace.

The technology is capable of autonomously detecting and executing cyber-takeovers of any drones approaching the air show to prevent any conflicts with aircraft or interfering with attendees. After takeover, rogue drones are safely landed to control the outcome of the incident.

Aviation Director Tony Nevarez said, “At the El Paso International Airport, we were excited to see the Amigo Airsho return to the community. To enhance safety, we partnered with D-Fend Solutions to monitor airspace over the event grounds and ensure drones were kept away from aircraft and spectators. The pilot program was a success, demonstrating our commitment to innovation and public safety.”

D-Fend has provided thousands of deployments of its solution globally, protecting complex and sensitive environments from present or emerging drone threats. Its Enforce Air has been utilized to protect against dangerous drones in military, public safety, airports, prisons, major events, critical infrastructure and other environments. Its clients include U.S. military, federal law enforcement, homeland security and major international airports around the world.
