New Representatives Will Serve A Three-Year Term Beginning In March
Members of the Aircraft Electronics Association recently elected new representatives to its board of directors. The following individuals will serve a three-year term from March 2018 to March 2021.
Those named to the board include:
- Jim Alpiser, Garmin
- Mike Berryhill, Cirrus Aircraft
- David Copeland, Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics
- Don Dominguez, San Luis Avionics
- Kris Garberg, Appareo
- Pete Ring, FreeFlight Systems
- Tim Shaw, Rocky Mountain Aircraft
Jim Alpiser leads the aftermarket sales team for Garmin's aviation segment. He has been with Garmin for 20 years and has held positions in the company's consumer and aviation sectors, including serving more than three years as an aviation regional sales manager and more than four years as an aviation OEM sales manager. Alpiser is an instrument rated pilot and has served on various AEA ad hoc committees. He attends AEA Conventions and was elected to his second term on the board of directors.
Mike Berryhill's responsibilities with Cirrus Aircraft Service Center include global avionics support for Cirrus piston and Jet Aircraft. His past experience was spent with Garmin International, and he is known for instructing Garmin training classes at AEA Conventions and Connect Conferences. He also teaches courses at the AEA's Derby Center for Professional Development. He holds the NCATT AET certificate with multiple endorsements.
David Copeland's responsibilities at Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics include global sales revenues for all new products and repair services including dealer and distribution networks. He has served in numerous volunteer roles with the EAA, AOPA, NIFA, and other industry-related boards and committees from MRO to Global Alternate Aviation Fuel, as well as aviation museums and sales and marketing groups and organizations. He regularly attends the AEA Conventions and Connect Conferences.
In addition to serving as general manager of San Luis Avionics, Don Dominguez's professional responsibilities include chief inspector, quality control, installation technician and sales manager. He teaches various technical courses, including the AEA's pitot-static and transponder certification training course at the Derby Center for Professional Development. He is an FAA Safety Team member and attends the AEA Convention and Connect Conferences every year.
In his role as president of aviation, Kris Garberg oversees the entire aviation business segment of Appareo. Under his leadership, Appareo was named the AEA Associate Member of the Year in 2017. He attends AEA Conventions and Connect Conferences, and presents product sessions and courses.
Pete Ring leads all forward-facing efforts of FreeFlight Systems, including sales, programs, support, and government affairs and contracts. He attends all AEA Conventions and Connect Conferences. Ring participated on the AEA's 2016 ad hoc committee on the Part 23 rewrite. He serves on the Tarrant County College Aviation Advisory Board and is affiliated with the Commemorative Air Force.
Tim Shaw is the avionics manager of Rocky Mountain Aircraft, an AEA member since 1989, and is involved in all aspects of the company. He regularly attends the AEA Canada Connect Conference and the AEA Convention. Throughout his career, Shaw has gained knowledge of the aviation rulemaking process, as well as obtaining an interest in policy development, aircraft certification, maintenance and facility approvals. He served in the military and serves on the steering committee for Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Shaw will begin his third term on the board of directors.
