Former FAA Administrator Jane Garvey Joins Metron Aviation Board Of Directors

First Woman To Be Appointed To Metron Board

Air traffic management company Metron Aviation announced Monday that former FAA Administrator Jane Garvey has joined its Board of Directors. Appointed by President Clinton in 1997, Garvey was the first FAA administrator to serve a five-year term and the first woman appointed to that role.

"It's truly an honor to welcome an industry leader like Jane Garvey to our Board. Jane is nationally recognized for her expertise in modernizing the national airspace and forging successful public private partnerships," said Don Antonucci, Chairman of Metron Aviation's Board of Directors. "Jane gives us vital experience and insight as our industry comes together to deliver the NextGen transformation of our air traffic systems to provide the safety and capacity needed to support the growth of aviation for decades to come."

"I look forward to working with Don and Metron Aviation to help guide the team's contributions to the safety and efficiency of air transportation," said Garvey. "Metron Aviation has a track record of bringing measurable benefits to our national and global airspace users and I'm excited to join them at such an important time for our industry."

Garvey is the Chairman of Meridiam Investment Fund North America and recently served on the Obama administration's transition team, advising on transportation policies and related challenges facing the new administration. Previous to the transition team, Ms. Garvey headed the US public/private partnerships at JPMorgan. Prior to becoming FAA Administrator in 1997, she was Acting Administrator and previously Deputy Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Before joining the FHWA, Ms. Garvey was director of Boston's Logan International Airport. From 1988 to 1991, she was Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Works. Ms. Garvey received the National Air Transportation Association's Distinguished Service Award and the National Council of Public-Private Partnerships Leadership Award, among many others.

During her tenure as FAA Administrator, Ms. Garvey managed the FAA's Y2K transition. Her stewardship fostered industry-wide collaboration as the FAA modernized the national airspace with the deployment of new technology solutions. She is recognized as providing the foundation for NextGen through the adoption of free flight principles.
