FAA Puts 24-Hour Ban On Flights To Tel Aviv By US Carriers

At Least One Rocket Landed Near Tel Aviv Airport

The FAA has placed a 24-hour ban on flights to Tel Aviv Airport by US-flagged airlines after a rocket came down about a mile from Ben Gurion International Airport Tuesday morning.

The airport is about 50 miles north of Gaza, putting it in range for rockets being launched by Hamas.

Fox News reports that the ban went into effect at 1215 EDT Tuesday. Delta and United had already announced that they were cancelling their service between Israel and the US until further notice.

The FAA says it is monitoring the situation and will lift the ban "as soon as conditions permit, but no later than 24 hours" after it became effective.
