Remains Of Pilot Recovered From Pond In Maine

Plane Apparently Impacted Trees And Flipped Over Into The Pond On Approach

The body of a pilot of a twin-engine airplane has been recovered from wreckage discovered at the bottom of a man-made pond in Houlton, ME.

Television station WCSH reports that Maine State Police said the pond was drained Thursday so that the body and wreckage could be recovered. Neither the pilot's name or the type of aircraft were immediately released.

State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said that the plane had been on approach to Houlton International Airport when it appears to have impacted treetops and flipped over inverted into the pond.

It is believed that the pilot was the only person on board the aircraft.
