ALPA Presents Sen. Tammy Duckworth Top Legislative Honor

Association Presents ‘Pilot Partisan Of The Year’ Award

The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) presented Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) its top legislative honor, the Pilot Partisan of the Year.

The award was presented on June 2, 2025, during the Association’s annual Legislative Summit.

The Summit gives almost 200 pilot volunteers a great opportunity to meet with lawmakers and their staff to discuss a myriad of issues such as modernizing the Air Traffic Control system, safety risks of reduced crew operations, and updating antiquated mental health protocols for pilots and controllers.

Capt. Jason Ambrosi, President of ALPA said, "Sen. Duckworth is one of the strongest champions for pilots in Congress. She has been a tireless advocate for safety and security across the airline industry.

“We appreciate Sen. Duckworth's exhaustive efforts to pass the pro-safety, pro-labor FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, which is helping make our skies safer and our industry stronger. Thank you for being a champion to all ALPA pilots."

The Association recognized Sen. Duckworth for her strong commitment to aviation safety and security as well as advocating for the workforce in the aviation industry. She has also been a stalwart advocate for maintaining rigorous pilot training requirements as mandated by Congress, through her leadership position on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee’s Subcommittee on Aviation, Space, and Innovation.
