'Noon Patrol' Nieuport to be Auctioned

Have a Look at Arlington, Oshkosh; Buy on e-Bay

They've been building their identical Nieuport-alikes for a couple years now, and they're flying some of them -- the first flight (right) was just over a year ago.

EAA Chapter 292 decided to build a squadron of the scaled-down replicas, and they always planned to have "one left over." That aircraft was built to be sold; but nobody would know which airplane that one would be, during building.

As detailed at the beginning of the project in Aero-News, all the planes were to be built pretty much together, so that the whole Chapter could help, and develop expertise, on all the sections: all the empennage, then all the wings, etc.

When the airplanes were finished (except for trim paint), each original buyer was to get one of the aircraft -- drawn by lots. That idea was to give everyone the incentive to make sure that everything was done according to Hoyle.

Now that the ships are virtually complete, the Chapter is planning for the disposition of the "extra" airplane. It'll be on public display at the Arlington air show July 9-13; and it will be displayed at Oshkosh, as well, at the end of this month. Then it will go on e-Bay, and thence to the highest bidder.

Oh -- "Noon Patrol?" They said "Dawn" was just too darned early.
