Aero-TV: The Super Guppy At AirVenture 2023

Most Guppies Swim, This one Flies!

While making the rounds at AirVenture 2023, Aero News’ sneakiest mice were able to get some sterling footage of the ins and outs of the old Aero Spacelines Super Guppy, the quad-engined outsidzed cargo aircraft of yore.

The heavily modified Boeing 377 Stratocruiser cuts an extremely unique figure on the ramp, thanks to its immense cargo compartment, well-kept aluminum skins, and vintage T-34 Pratt & Whitney turboprops. Back in its heyday, the Super Guppy was used to transport large cargo pieces for NASA, a mission that’s seen in its old-school tail logo today.

The Super Guppy is a rare visitor to most air shows around the country, but the crew often makes the journey to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to give AirVenture attendees a one-of-a-kind show.

Aero-TV is a production of the Internationally syndicated Aero-News Network. Seen worldwide by hundreds of thousands of aviators and aviation adherents, ANN's Aero-TV has produced well over 5000 aviation and feature programs, including over 2500 episodes of our daily aviation news program, AIRBORNE UNLIMITED, currently hosted by Holland Lee. Now in its third decade of operation, parent company Aero-News Network, has the most aggressive and intensive editorial profile of any aviation news organization and has published well over a half-million news and feature stories since its inception -- having pioneered the online 24/7 aviation new-media model that so many have emulated.
