Sikorsky May Deliver Combat Rescue Helicopter Ahead Of Schedule

Timeline May Be Shortened By As Much As Six Months

Sikorsky executives say that they may be able to compress the delivery timeline on its new Combat Rescue Helicopter by six months.

Defense News reports that the head of Sikorsky's defense division said that the program is on track, and an early delivery date is not only possible, but likely.

Samir Mehta said that the early delivery would be not only important for the company from a financial standpoint, but also to the airmen who have been waiting for a replacement for the Pave Hawk helicopters for several years.

The program calls for 112 new aircraft to replace the Pave Hawks in a combat SAR role. It could be worth up to $7 billion to Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky's parent company.
