Vertical Aerospace Announces Strategy For Market Leadership

Sets Route For Journey From Prototype To Production

Vertical Aerospace has announced its “Flightpath 2030” detailing its strategy to achieve market leadership by the end of the decade.

The British company is advancing the flight test program for its piloted vehicle, the tiltrotor VX-4, its order book currently numbers 1,500 aircraft with total value of $6 billion. “Flightpath 2030” sets a clearly defined route from prototype to production, building on its progress to date and supported by flight test results with a full-sized prototype. In addition, positive engagement with the Civil Aviation Authority and solid planning by leadership will reinforce its efforts.

Elements of the strategic plan include:

  • Deliver at least 150 aircraft
  • Attain annual production of 200 VX4 units or more by Q4 2030
  • Planning for scale-up to 700+ aircraft per year in medium term
  • Position the company to become cash generative, with break-even by 2030
  • Certify the VX4 in 2028, with a major upgrade in 2030

Stuart Simpson, Vertical Aerospace CEO said, “This is a transformational moment for Vertical as we advance from prototype to production. Since I became CEO, I’ve been clear that I want Vertical to lead — not just compete in — the eVTOL sector.

"The strategy and goals we are unveiling today provide a new level of detail on how exactly we intend to get there – the best team, delivering the safest and most versatile aircraft, with the most compelling business model in the industry.”
