Two Fatally Injured In Accident Near Dayton, OH

Student Pilot Reportedly Was Flying With A Passenger On Board

A Piper Cub went down last Wednesday in a cornfield near Dayton, OH, resulting in the fatal injury of the two people on board.

The Dayton Daily News reports that the two have been identified as 20-year-old Clayton Heins, who was piloting the aircraft, and 19-year-old Jacob Turner.

NTSB investigator Michael Folkerts told reporters that Heins held only a student pilot certificate. Student pilots are not allowed to carry passengers.

The two reportedly departed from a private airstrip at about 0800 local time Wednesday. The Sheriff's office was contacted when family members were unable to contact either Heins or Turner. The wreckage was located about 1345 that afternoon.
