Building On A Theme: Two Light Sport Inspection Candidates Pass First Hurdle

FAA Sends Letters Of Acceptance To EAA, Rainbow Aviation Services

The Light Sport Aviation Branch (AFS-610) says it's sent the first two Light Sport Aircraft Inspection Airplane course acceptance letters this week. They went to Charles Becker, Director, EAA SportAir Workshops and Brian and Carol Carpenter, Rainbow Aviation Services.

This is the first step in the process of getting repairman ready to conduct annual condition inspections on the Experimental Light Sport Aircraft the individuals own.

"We are anticipating that more individuals and organizations will develop courses to provide this training," said the FAA's Martin Weaver in a statement to ANN.

Sport Pilot Examiner Class 6 will begin on Tuesday, June 7th in Oklahoma City.

The following individuals have accepted invitations to attend the course:

  • Jeffrey Mountain, Euless, TX
  • Dennis Stanley, Sandy, UT
  • Jon Thornburgh, Redondo Beach, CA
  • Bobby Walker, Perryton, TX
  • Richard Zipperer, Roanoke, TX

To date there have been 29 Sport Pilot Examiners appointed and over 40 Designated Pilot Examiners extended sport pilot examining privileges.
