Rockwell Collins Signs Landmark MoU With Russia-Based Transas Aviation

Company Becomes First Major Global Avionics Manufacturer To Sign Agreement With A Russian Aviation Solutions Provider

Rockwell Collins has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with St. Petersburg, Russia-based Transas Aviation—a division of Transas Group—to address forward-fit and retrofit avionics opportunities for Russian aircraft platforms. The combined strengths of Rockwell Collins and Transas Aviation, which provides aviation solutions for Russian and international fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter operators, marks a major milestone in the region.

Under the terms of the MoU, Rockwell Collins will further expand its footprint in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) with improved access to in-region customers, engineering support and certification agencies, and Transas Aviation will gain access to Rockwell Collins’ global business development capabilities, engineering and certification expertise, and expansive service and support network.

This is the first formal agreement announced between a major global avionics manufacturer and a Russian-based aviation solutions provider.

“The Russian and CIS aviation market segment is quickly emerging and to successfully meet demand, strong relationships like we have with Transas Aviation are becoming more critical,” said Claude Alber, vice president and managing director, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EuMEA) for Rockwell Collins. “Together, we will deliver robust solutions for Russian aircraft by leveraging the market-leading expertise of both companies.”

“We are pleased to establish this collaboration with Rockwell Collins—one of the global leaders in aviation electronic solutions,” said Igor Strokin, general director, Transas Aviation. “I am sure that combining intellectual potential and marketing strengths of our two companies will allow us to create unique and compelling offerings for domestic and CIS clients.”
