JFK Jr. Assistant Writes Book About Kennedy, Bessette

Says 'I Urged Caroline To Get On That Plane'

An assistant to John F Kennedy Jr. is set to release a book January 24th which tells the story of the President's son and his wife, Caroline Bessette.

RoseMarie Terenzio had begun working for the young Kennedy in 1994. Her book "Fairytale Interrupted" shares intimate details about Kennedy and his wife, and their deaths in an airplane accident.

The couple and Bessette's sister Lauren were flying to Martha's Vineyard in 1999 when Kennedy lost control of the airplane and it went down in the Atlantic ocean.

The three were traveling to a Kennedy family wedding on the island, and Bessette's relationship with Kennedy was reportedly "strained." In a story on MSNBC.com, Liz McNeil of People magazine, who interviewed Terenzio, says the author told her that Bessette had not wanted to attend the wedding, but Terenzio said she had urged Caroline to join Kennedy on the flight.

She says while she has some regrets about advising her to board the airplane, she also says Bessette made her own decision.  McNeil says the author said Caroline she "did what she wanted to do."
