SilverLight Aviation Provides Updates

Gyroplanes, New Airplane, AJ Sport Displayed At SUN ‘n FUN

SilverLight Aviation, based in Tampa, Florida, announced it will have aircraft on display at the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo 2025 in Lakeland, Florida, April 1-6, with its American Ranger 1 or AR-1 Gyroplane, the newly-launched Recon airplane, and the AJ Sport in partnership with AeroJones Aviation USA.

SilverLight has expanded its product line beyond the American Ranger 1 (AR-1) gyroplane  by launching the new Recon light sport airplane. It is based on a Hungarian folding-wing design called the Apollo Fox which in turn was a modification of the Avid Flyer dating from the 1980s.

The Recon is the result of a series of revisions, updates, and further revisions between Hungarian and U.S. manufacturers and one of the founders and engineers of Apollo LSA starting up SilverLight to refine the design for the American market. The design was slightly enlarged to add 18 inches to the length to accommodate larger and more powerful engines, and add more baggage capacity as well.

The Recon will be at SUN ‘n FUN, as will a prototype model of the Nisus, the in-development gyroplane which is a side-by-side, a model that has been a top request among gyroplane enthusiasts.

Lastly, SilverLight has entered into a new partnership with AeroJones Aviation to bring its AJ Sport light sport airplane to the U.S. market. The AJ Sport is the licensed manufacturer of CTLS airplanes designed by Flight Design of Germany. It is powered by the Rotax 912iS engine and can cruise at 112 kts while sipping a miserly 4 gph.

SliverLight’s aircraft will be at SUN ‘n FUN from April 1-6, in Paradise City LP-0027 and LP-0029.
