IMC Clubs strive to increase aviation safety. While at the Redbird Migration 2013 ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell talked with Radek Wyrzykowski, the founder and president of IMC Club.
Sometimes good things start very simply, and such is the case with IMC club. The concept started when a few pilots joined together in a restaurant and talked about instrument flying. That humble beginning has now grown into 85 chapters and 2,000 IMC Club members.
Wyrzykowski said his first experiences in actual IFR flying proved to him that textbook knowledge and theoretical training didn't necessarily represent the real world of instruments flying. The IMC Club is dedicated to increasing safety by providing a forum to learn and understand the realities of flying IMC, not just the text-book answers.
IMC Club chapters provide a place for pilots to gather and discuss actual situations that they have experience while flying IMC. Through meetings and through the Internet shared stories, common experiences become lessons for learning. This video presents the story of the IMC Club and offers examples of how they can make a difference for safety.
