Drone Causes Concern In California When It Followed Two School Children

Mother Of The Drone Operator Apologizes For The Incident

A drone which followed two boys as they walked home from school Monday in Escalon, CA caused a minor panic in the city, for which the mother of the boy operating the drone has apologized.

Television station KOVR reports that Escalon police received a report of the drone following two boys as they walked home from school from the mother of one of the pair. The aircraft reportedly followed the boys for a short distance and coming within a few feet of the boys before flying away.

On Tuesday, Escalon police said the drone was apparently being operated by another boy who was using it to look at a construction site with several of his friends. That boy's mother said the two walking from school waved at the drone, so her sone flew it down near them.

The mom has apologized for the concerns caused by her son, and taken his drone away, according to the report.

Still, police say that if anyone observes a drone being operated near a school or in an unsafe and suspicious way, they should notify authorities.
