Geo-Referenced Approach Plates, More For Apple Devices From ForeFlight

Company Updates VERY Popular App

The latest version of ForeFlight Mobile HD features the availability of an in-app upgrade option to ForeFlight Pro - a new subscription plan offering that enables geo-referenced approach plates and taxi diagrams.

“When the team decided to implement geo-referenced charts, we demanded nothing less than the best possible implementation for iOS devices”, said Tyson Weihs, co-founder of ForeFlight.

The software update also includes enhanced brightness controls for night flying; a heads-up display for the iPhone; enhanced airway support; direct integration with AWOS systems for more frequent weather observation reporting; and additional performance enhancements.

The companies say georeferenced airport diagrams and plates can improve situational awareness on the ground and in the air. However, pilots in IMC should rely upon the aircraft’s approach certified avionics. Personal electronic devices such as the iPad and iPhone can take attention away from the most important and demanding task: flying the airplane and arriving safely.

Use personal electronic devices in an aircraft only when workload and conditions permit. Always enhance your iOS device’s GPS performance by using an external, Apple-approved GPS accessory.

ForeFlight Pro is priced at $149.95 per year, includes ForeFlight HD’s standard features, and ForeFlight Intelligent Apps for Pilots adds the new geo-referenced ChartData. The app is available for immediate download, and the upgrade is available to ForeFlight users with an active account. Any time remaining under an existing subscription will be credited towards the price of the upgraded plan.
