Enhanced Sentence Given For Placing Pilots And Firefighters In Risk of Death And Serious Injury

Steven Metheny, 45, of Medford, Oregon was sentenced Tuesday to 12.5 years in federal prison by U.S. Chief District Court Judge Ann Aiken after his convictions for conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and the making of false statements in defrauding the United States Forest Service in procuring helicopter firefighting contracts in 2008.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. has fulfilled its contract to deliver seven S-92 helicopters to Bristow Helicopters Ltd. for UK Search and Rescue. Embraer Defense & Security and the Ministry of Defense and Veterans from the Republic of Mali have signed today a contract for the acquisition of six A-29 Super Tucano light attack and advanced training turboprops at the Paris Air Show. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense from the Republic of Mali, Tieman Coulibaly. The contract includes logistic support for the operation of these aircraft and also provides a training system for pilots and mechanics of the Mali Air Force.
