ASB Avionics (ASB), under contract with the NOAA, is developing
a Dorsal HF Shunt Antenna for their WP-3 fleet. The P-3 HF Shunt
Antenna builds on ASB’s history of HF Dorsal Antennas for
L-382/C-130, KC-135, 707, 737, and 747 aircraft.

Airline’s In-House Training Academy Acquires Second
Aircraft
Hawker Beechcraft has delivered its second Beechcraft King Air
C90GTi to Shenzhen Airlines in China. Shenzhen Airlines is using
the King Air C90GTi to provide advanced pilot training at its
in-house training academy, Kunpeng International Flight
Academy.

An Air Force MQ-1 Predator unmanned aircraft crashed in eastern
Afghanistan Sept. 4th at approximately 8:45 p.m. Kabul time. The
crash was not due to hostile fire. There were no reports of
civilian injuries or damage to civilian property at the site.
First Ground Test of the Ares I Five-Segment Solid Rocket Motor
Re-Sked
Alliant Techsystems Space Systems and NASA have finally
identified the issue that resulted in the scrub of last week's test
of the Ares 1 solid rocket motor system. A component of the ground
controller unit, which sends power to the system that moves the
nozzle during the test, failed and has been replaced.
Air Force Hopes Additive Will Reduce Engine Maintenance
Elmendorf Air Force Base officials started to blend a thermally
stable additive known as Plus 100 to its JP-8 aviation fuel Sept.
1. The additive prevents coking and carbon buildup in the engine,
which will greatly reduce engine maintenance.
Intensive Training Continues With Airplanes Expected Late This
Month
Test pilots, engineers and ground crews from Alenia North
America performed an initial test flight of the first of 20
programmed Afghan C-27A "Spartans" recently in Italy. The
medium-sized tactical military transport remains on schedule for
delivery to Naples in late September.
No Joy
A term used,
originally when a pilot or aircrew does not have visual contact
with the target/bandit; opposite of term "TALLY" or "Tally Ho." Its
often used here and there in civil aviation to denote the status of
traffic alerts... often by retired military
aviators.
Aero-Linx: USAF UH-1N Huey Fact

The UH-1N is a light-lift utility helicopter used to support Air
Force Space Command missile wings and groups. The helicopter has a
number of uses.
"Aircrew safety is our biggest priority... Lives
are on the line. If fuel doesn't meet specifications, it could
result in catastrophic consequences."
