One Sky Aviation Wednesday announced the award of FAA STC
#SA02350AK for installation of the Max Viz EVS-100/600 Enhanced
Vision System for the Cessna Caravan product line including the 208
and 208B models.
L-3 Communications announced Wednesday that its Systems Field
Support (SFS) division was awarded a 60-day base contract with
eight option years from the U.S. Air Force to serve as prime
contractor on the T-1A Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) program.
The total value of the contract with all options is $680
million.
Police Helicopter Unit Falls Victim To Budget Woes

its logbook for Mac OS X. LogTen Pro 5 features a new integrated

Vector Aerospace Corporation announced Tuesday that it has,
through Vector Helicopter Services - North America, been awarded a
contract by the Brazilian Air Force in support of its fleet of Bell
H-1H helicopters valued at approximately $15M USD over a five year
period.
Centurion has already manufactured a total of 250 engines this
year, and the 250th engine is intended for series production of a
Diamond DA 40 in China. The engine is part of a package of OEM kits
ordered by Shandong Bin Ao Aircraft Industries, the Chinese joint

Marcus Schrenker Intentionally Crashed A Plane In The Florida

The Indiana man who bailed out of a Piper PA46 Malibu and
allowed it to crash in an attempt to fake his own death was
sentenced Wednesday to 51 months in a federal prison, and ordered
to pay more than $34,000 in restitution to the U.S. Coast Guard, as
well as $871,000 to the lien holder on the plane.
NASA has completed a two-day review of space shuttle Discovery's
readiness for flight and selected Aug. 25 as the official launch
date for the STS-128 mission to the International Space Station.
Liftoff is scheduled for 0136 EDT from NASA's Kennedy Space Center
in Florida.

Youth
Actors Harrison Ford and Cliff Robertson were among aviation
enthusiasts and industry leaders who helped make the Experimental
Aircraft Association's Gathering of Eagles fundraiser July 30 a
great success. The event raised $1.9 million.
Embry-Riddle University is reportedly looking at Horry-Conway
airport in South Carolina as a possible site for expansion,
according to the Myrtle Beach Sun News. The airport is the site of
the former North American Institute of Aviation, which closed last
fall and went into bankruptcy.

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin opened the MAKS show Tuesday. The
event was further marred by the death of one of the country's
premier military aerobatic pilots, Igor Tkachenko.

An unidentified pilot and his pet cat both walked away from a
forced landing Tuesday morning ... well technically the cat was
probably carried away, but without cashing in one of its nine
lives.
