Cirrus Down After Missed Approach In Carrollton, TX

One Person Fatally Injured, Two Survive

A plane identified as a Cirrus SR22 with three people on board went down near a high school in Carrollton, TX, Monday morning. Officials say that one person, a passenger seated in the back seat of the airplane, was fatally injured. The other two survived, but were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Multiple media sources including television station KDFW reports that the aircraft had departed from PlaneSmart Aviation (where the aircraft is hangared), which is a fractional operator/charter service and flight school at Addison Airport (KADS). Witnesses said the plane seemed to be suffering from unknown difficulties after missing one approach and before going down.

Video posted by the station shows the aircraft's airframe parachute deployed and spread across the ground at the impact site and local reports suggest that the parachute was fired off in flight but too close to the ground to affect a proper recovery. No further details were immediately available.
