Airbus Inks 100-Aircraft MoU With Vietjet

Largest Paris Order So Far Includes Potential For 50 More

Airbus and Vietnamese low-cost airline Vietjet entered a Memorandum of Understanding, or MoU, for a major order of 100 A321neo single-aisle aircraft, with the potential for a future addition of 50 more. This deal is the largest order yet announced at this year’s 55th Paris Air Show.

The agreement was highlighted during a signing ceremony between Airbus and Vietjet on June 17, 2025.

Vietjet already operates a fleet of more than 100 Airbus aircraft as it modernizes its fleet amid an ongoing global expansion program.

The A321neo is the largest of the A320neo family of aircraft. The incorporation of new generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo provides a 20% savings in fuel costs and CO2 emissions as well as a 50% reduction in noise, compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft.

More than 7,000 A320neo family aircraft have been ordered by over 90 customers globally.

During the signing ceremony, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Vietjet Chairwoman said, “This new agreement marks a significant milestone in our strategic partnership with Airbus.”

She added, “These modern and efficient aircraft have been instrumental in Vietjet’s growth, helping us make air travel more accessible and affordable for millions, while strengthening our role as a connector for economic development, cultural exchange and global connectivity. This landmark agreement represents a vital step in Vietjet’s growth strategy as a multinational aviation group.”

Vietjet also placed an order with Rolls-Royce for an additional 40 Trent 7000 engines for 20 of its A330neo aircraft, following up on a 2024 Singapore Airshow order for 40 of the engines.
