Embry-Riddle ROTC Cadets Selected For Elite Training

Seven Pilots Chosen For Jet, Five For Helicopter Spots

Twelve Air Force ROTC cadets at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have been selected for highly selective slots in two separate pilot training programs. Seven were selected for the Air Force Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training and five were chosen for the Helicopter Training Nest program.

Eight cadets from Detachment 157 at the Daytona Beach Campus and four cadets from Detachment 028 at the Prescott Campus earned the coveted spots.

The NATO Jet Pilot program is conducted by the 80th Flying Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas and is the world’s only multi-nationally manned and managed flight training center producing combat pilots for NATO countries.

The Helicopter Training program produces world-class helicopter pilots for the Air Force. The cadets will graduate and receive their commissions in May 2025 and then travel to Fort Novosel (formerly Fort Rucker) in Alabama for their training as highly skilled helicopter pilots.

Col. Gregory Adams, commander of Detachment 157 said, “Our cadets are amazing, and this is a true testament to how hard they work.”

Col. Russ Davis, Commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 028 and Professor of Aerospace Studies said, “When you combine the two detachments, one-fifth of AFROTC graduates attending Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training in 2025 will have come from Embry?Riddle. That is a testament to the quality of the university and our outstanding AFROTC programs.”
