Gleim Combines Innovation and Flight Training

Focusing on Filling The Gaps in Av Knowledge at AirVenture

For years, Gleim Aviation has been a trusted name in pilot education, providing training tools that help students understand - not just memorize - concepts. With resources for Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, CFII, and ATP training, Gleim focuses on filling knowledge gaps in students while helping instructors manage training more effectively.

The company's new Cross-Check platform allows instructors to track student progress, giving CFIs greater insight into ground school performance and flight readiness. Cross-Check is free for all CFIs. To reduce logbook errors, Gleim also introduced the Career Pilot Training Logbook, which includes endorsement checklists to help CFIs avoid missed endorsements and keep DPEs happy.

Gleim’s resources include lesson plans, instructional aids, progress tracking, and updated FAA question banks, all designed for a flexible training environment to fit the needs and pace of the individual student. All are in the paperback version rather than a digital format. While their training resources were initially only available to Part 141 schools, Gleim announced at EAA Oshkosh AirVenture that they will now be available to Part 61 programs.

Their newest innovation, a Digital Pilot Examiner (DPE) named 'Auto', prepares students for the oral portion of the checkride. Instead of multiple-choice questions, students respond verbally to checkride-style prompts. As the student answers, Auto will prompt them for the full answer if it’s not completely correct. This conversational style of questioning offers a more realistic experience.

For simulator training, the Gleim FE-BATD X-Plane 12 offers a realistic environment with touchscreen panels (analog or G1000). Available to purchase for $8,500, it’s a cost-effective way to train without the cockpit heat or pressure, to be perfect the first time in the plane. Best of all, it is FAA approved.

With over 1.5 million students trained, Gleim will continue to identify the training needs, close knowledge gaps, and keep both students and instructors on task throughout their training.
