Cloud Syncing Introduced In ForeFlight Mobile 6.2.1

Data Transferred Seamlessly Between iOS Devices

Cloud-based syncing has been introduced on the latest version of ForeFlight for iOS devices allowing "seamless" transfer of information between an iPhone and iPad using the same login.

According to the ForeFlight blog, this capability allows users to plan a flight on an iPhone and that flight will appear in the recent routes list on an iPad, or in a favorites list if the route is marked as a favorite. There is no special user interaction required as syncing is automatic.

With this initial release, sync seamlessly synchronizes recent and favorite: routes, airports, weather imagery, and user waypoints across all devices that share the same ForeFlight Mobile login.

In the next release, ForeFlight says it will add sync support for aircraft profiles and filed flight plans, with more sync-enabled features to follow.

Because sync stores recents and favorites to the cloud, changes made on one device will automatically be delivered to the other device when it next connects to the Internet. In addition, activity is protected and restored automatically when setting up a new device or if the app needs to be reinstalled.

ForeFlight says sync is disabled by default for multi-pilot accounts with a shared single login. The service is available with version 6.2.1 on all ForeFlight Mobile Standard, Pro, and Military service levels.
