Canadian CT-155 Down

Two Crew Members Safe

Two crew members aboard a Canadian CT-155 Hawk military trainer are reportedly safe after they were forced to eject Friday near the military base in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

"The pilots are fine, they're at the hospital right now," said Canadian Forces Major Jay Walker. "That's the main thing, of course. We don't know their exact condition but we do know they're fine."

Both crew members were hospitalized after witnesses say they ejected from the Hawk close to the 15 Moose Jaw Wing.

Walker said the aircraft is used by NATO pilots in Canada for advanced jet training. Crews which train on the Hawk include those from Belgium, the UK, Denmark and Italy, among others. Walker didn't immediately identify the pilots or their home countries.

"It could be a mixed crew - we train all sorts of different pilots. We have Canadians flying with Germans, and all sorts of different mixes," he said.

It was the second time in less than a year that a Hawk has gone down at Moose Jaw. Last July, a CT-155 made a belly landing at the base after the foreign pilot on board reported landing gear problems.
