Jeppesen Charts And Data Now Available With ForeFlight Mobile

In-App Purchase Available Through ForeFlight

Jeppesen and ForeFlight recently announced that essential Jeppesen flight data is now available within ForeFlight Mobile. The two companies recently announced a strategic alliance to deliver superior data, software and worldwide content for pilots and operators.

ForeFlight Mobile now includes the ability to display Jeppesen’s worldwide charting library. Customers can purchase standard Jeppesen charts for use inside the app through a simple e-commerce experience on foreflight.com. Customers are able to choose up to 13 regions and coverages depending upon where they fly.

ForeFlight Mobile recently added Jeppesen’s global navigation information (NavData), terrain and obstacle data. The new data services provide greater situational awareness, true worldwide reach, and simplifies the flying experience.

In a forthcoming release later this summer, ForeFlight Mobile will further leverage the strengths of both companies by combining Jeppesen’s data-driven enroute charts into the ForeFlight mapping engine to render on-screen information in real time, which will elevate the user experience.
“Integrating Jeppesen data within ForeFlight Mobile for general aviation pilots signifies the beginning of a unified effort to deliver a new generation of flight data and app technology across the aviation landscape,” said Ken Sain, chief executive officer, Jeppesen. “After years of pilots asking for it, together, Jeppesen and ForeFlight are now enhancing how pilots access flight data, process information more efficiently and create an improved overall flying experience.”

The integration of Jeppesen data and charts within ForeFlight Mobile marks the first step of the strategic alliance between the two companies. A new integrated version of Jeppesen’s FliteDeck Pro for airlines and large scale operators will be available in early 2018.

Jeppesen NavData is developed from a comprehensive aviation database, which is composed of more than one million records. To ensure accuracy, Jeppesen flight information analysts edit and verify approximately 150,000 database transactions generated from worldwide aviation data source documents during every 28-day revision cycle.

Jeppesen terrain data provides pilots with information needed to prevent flying into terrain avoidance areas, while Jeppesen obstacle data is based on the most complete database of both man-made and natural obstacles relevant to aviation. Both Jeppesen terrain and obstacle data provide pilots with the information needed to complete flights safely and efficiently.
