Airshow Pilot, Eddie Andreini, Down At Travis AFB Airshow

30 Year Airshow Veteran Killed In 'Super Stearman' Performance

ANN RealTime Update, 1837 ET, 05.04.14: ANN has received confirmation that Eddie Andreini has passed away at the Travis AFB Open House, due to an accident that occured while flying his Super Stearman. There are no details, as yet, as to what caused this accident. ANN sends its prayers and best wishes to the many friends and family of Eddie Andreini -- an extraordinary pilot with decades of experience as an airshow professional.

Andreini was flying his Super Stearman, self-described as a, "... highly modified PR13D that started its life as a WWII primary trainer with a 225 hp Lycoming engine. Today it sports a modified 450 hp Pratt & Whitney with inverted fuel & oil systems. It has numerous modifications most of which are Eddie’s originals. From the unique canopy, 4 ailerons with spades, speed fairings and a wing smoke system which will handle a variety of pyrotechnic devices."

ANN Initial Report: ANN is monitoring initial reports of a fatal airshow accident that took place at Travis AFB's Open House and Airshow mid-afternoon, Sunday. While nor information has been imparted as to the identity of the aircraft and performer involved, we have seen personal reports on Facebook that indicates that two known Biplane-flying performers, Spencer Suderman and Bill Cornick are alive and well and not involved.

The Travis AFB Open House, "Thunder Over Solano" took place Saturday and Sunday and featured an expansive roster of civilian and military acts and demonstrations. In addition to the USAF Thunderbirds, Travis hosted nearly a dozen major performers and demonstration teams. News reports from the area have carried multiple reports of the accident, each indicating that a biplane was involved... and the only major biplane act that has not reported in or otherwise known to be OK is the Stearman act flown by Eddie Andreini.

ANN is researching the matter and will have more details shortly...
