Two Team Members Remain In Critical Condition In A Florida Hospital

The U.S. Army Golden Knights have resumed training for the 2019 season following an accident February 12 which critically injured two team members and seriously injured a third.

Military.com reports that one of those injured soldiers has been released from the hospital. "Two soldiers remain in critical, but stable condition," Kelli Bland, director of public affairs for Army Recruiting Command, said Monday afternoon. "The third was released from the hospital Thursday night."

The Army has not released the names of any of the injured soldiers.

Bland said a complete safety evaluation has been conducted, and training was set to resume.

In a letter posted on the Golden Knights Facebook page, Lt. Col Ned Marsh said that the return to training was "to honor our injured teammates ... with the understanding that we must overcome adversity. We plan for and prepare for risk, we also plan for an prepare to persevere. Like all U.S. Army units, we must again focus on and achieve success in our mission."

According to television station WTVJ in Florida, the accident occurred during training for a "halo jump" which includes a freefall from as high as 14,000 feet with the jumpers opening their chutes near the ground.
