Enhancement Available For EC145
Helicopter completions company Metro Aviation has introduced
some enhancements to the EC145 air medical interior, including the
capability to now use the Ferno Model 28A1 litter assembly with
ground ambulances. The adaptation will allow the easy and safe
transition between the aircraft mounting system to ground
ambulances that utilize a Stryker or Ferno gurney system. The
company developed the common interface capability as the result of
customer demand to allow greater flexibility and improved patient
transfer capabilities between helicopters and ground
ambulances.

Additionally, Metro has completed the successful preliminary
testing to allow the use of the Stryker MX PRO gurney in the Metro
Aviation EC145 air medical configuration. Milton Geltz, Managing
Director for Metro commented, "Our Production Manager, Russell
Garner and his highly experienced team are very excited about
adding this capability to our long line of air medical
options. We understand the Stryker is preferred by many air
medical operations and the challenge was to allow the use of the MX
PRO without requiring a change to the restraint system that is
already installed in the aircraft." The MX PRO receives
a base plate installation similar to the existing product line that
allows the customer to use the MX PRO, the Ferno 28, 28 A1, and the
Ferno 1123 based litter as well most of the specialty transport
sleds, without change to the airframe.
Geltz further commented, "Since our first air medical completion
for STAT MedEvac in 1996 , the goal has been to offer avionics,
options and patient transport systems that allow the seamless use
of our products for flight and medical crews. We continue to
accomplish these goals through constant and consistent product
innovation and improvements." Metro most recently performed
comprehensive air medical completions on new EC145s for Clarion
LifeLine of Indianapolis and Cleveland Metro Life Flight.
