Destination Lancaster Pledges $100,000 To Flight Test Museum

Supports Transformation Of Museum Into Premier Aerospace Valley Destination

Destination Lancaster pledged $100,000 toward finishing construction of the new Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The Museum is expected to become a top destination and draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Aerospace Valley area near Lancaster, California.

Art Thompson, Chairman of the Flight Test Historical Foundation (FTHF) said, “This significant pledge from Destination Lancaster demonstrates their vision for the economic growth and tourism potential of our region. The new museum will serve as a cornerstone attraction, drawing aviation enthusiasts and families from across Southern California and beyond."

The museum’s strategic location makes it accessible to over one million students in grades K-12 within a two-hour radius. It will be a transformative STEM education hub for all Southern California schools. The free educational programs at the museum are vital for introducing young people to aerospace careers.

The new museum will dramatically expand the reach of already-successful programs like Junior Test Pilot School which has inspired thousands of students in the region.

Lisa Sheldon Brown, PhD, Director of Education said, "The Flight Test Historical Foundation has expanded our education programs in partnerships with the 412th STEM Education Outreach and the Air Force Rocket Lab. We’re launching the Junior Rocket Scientist Program this Spring, and donations like this help us focus our other resources on education as we raise funds for the new museum.”
