VAI Cheers Committee Approval Of Bedford For FAA

Nomination Advances To Senate Floor For Confirmation

Vertical Aviation International applauded the 15-13 vote to approve Bryan Bedford’s nomination to become the next Administrator of the FAA, and now urges the full Senate to rapidly confirm the nomination to provide the agency the stable, permanent leadership needed during the current period of rapidly evolving technology and modernization of the agency it critically needs now.

With the FAA moving forward with long-overdue reforms and upgrades of technology and equipment, as well as integrating drones and other new players in low-altitude airspace, strong leadership with Senate approval is essential to ensure that policy stays apace with technology and maintains the highest standards of safety.

Mike Hertzendorf, COO of VAI said, “From modernizing air traffic control to integrating unmanned aircraft systems (UASs, or drones) into the National Airspace System (NAS), the FAA faces a critical moment. Bryan Bedford’s industry expertise and leadership make him exceptionally well-qualified to guide the agency through this period of rapid innovation and operational complexity.”

“VAI urges the Senate to confirm Mr. Bedford without delay and provide the FAA with the leadership necessary to modernize, innovate, and uphold the safety of the NAS,” he added.

Vertical Aviation International was formerly known as Helicopter Association International, and is the world’s leading membership association dedicated to the vertical aviation industry, which encompasses all aircraft capable of vertical or short takeoff and landing.
