Astronautics’ Roadrunner EFI Receives FAA TSO Authorization

Drop-In Flight Display Appropriate For Both Helicopters And Airplanes

Astronautics Corporation of America has received FAA Technical Standard Order Authorization (TSOA) for its AFI4700 RoadRunner electronic flight instrument (EFI), available for retrofit on helicopters and airplanes. FAA Supplemental Type Certificate approval is expected and product shipments will begin immediately thereafter.

“Receiving TSOA approval is a big step in bringing RoadRunner to the rotary and fixed-wing markets,” said Chad Cundiff, Astronautics president. “RoadRunner offers operators an easy and affordable upgrade to modern electronic flight instruments on their aircraft with enhanced safety features.”

The RoadRunner EFI is an easy and cost-effective drop-in primary flight display replacement for older EFIS or electromechanical instruments and is the fastest way to upgrade from existing attitude director and horizontal situational indicator functionality to modern electronic flight instruments supporting enhanced safety features and improved reliability. The new RoadRunner EFI also provides easy integration with modern navigation equipment, enabling capabilities like localizer performance with vertical guidance approaches.

The EFI provides operators readability in all lighting conditions, reduced operating and maintenance costs, and minimal downtime for installation. The EFI is easily upgradeable with new software functionality tailored to meet customer needs and mission requirements.
Astronautics has established an authorized dealer network to expand market coverage and support its new RoadRunner EFI and other display products.
