Chicago Brothers Sentenced To 15 And 12 Years In Prison For Airplane Loan Scam

Had Conspired To Fraudulently Secure Loans For Airplanes And Other Vehicles

On June 5, 2018, Ryan and Dusten Miller were sentenced in U.S. District Court, Worcester, Massachusetts. Ryan Miller received 15 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release. Dusten Miller was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release. Restitution will be determined at a later date.

On February 13, 2018, a jury convicted the Miller brothers on charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. Ryan Miller was also convicted on charges of bank fraud, money laundering, and aggravated identity theft.

The convictions followed an investigation that revealed the Miller brothers and Latoya Monique James conspired to fraudulently obtain aircraft and automobile loans valued around $4 million from various financial entities between January 2014 and January 2016. They obtained the loans by using stolen identities and fraudulent documents, including FAA medical certificates. James pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud and money laundering in March 2017.
