Chinese Copilot Reportedly Nearly Pulled Out Of The Airplane

Sichuan Airlines Flight Lost A Cockpit Window At FL320

The copilot of a Sichuan Airlines flight was reportedly "sucked halfway out" of the airplane when a cockpit window failed at cruising altitude, according to a report from Fox News.

The Airbus A319 had 119 passengers on board and was about a half hour into its flight to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, when the incident occurred. The captain of the airplane said that the windshield cracked "suddenly ... The next thing I know, my copilot had been sucked halfway out of the window." He said there was no warning before the window gave way.

He said the plane was shaking hard and he could not hear the radio. The copilot was wearing his seatbelt, and was not pulled completely out of the airplane. He suffered only minor injuries, according to the report. None of the passengers was injured.

Airbus has assigned a team to travel to China to investigate the incident, according to Chinese authorities.
