Team Aerodynamix: Planes Land Safely After Mid-Air Collision

RV-6, RV-8 Touched During Air Show Performance

Normally when there is a mid-air collision that involves one of the aircraft losing part of its prop, the outcome is much worse. But when such an incident occurred Sunday during an air show it Tuscaloosa, AL, both airplanes managed to land safely, and there were no injuries.

The two airplanes involved were an RV-6 and an RV-8 performing with Team Aerodynamix in the Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show. Lt. Andy Norris of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that at about 1:20 p.m. Sunday, the planes "touched" during the performance, causing one of the planes to lose part of its propeller.

Lt. Norris posted photos of the airplanes on his Facebook page. "Stunt Plane lost part of its propeller after mid air collision and both landed safely," he wrote on the social media site.

Officials delayed the show for a brief time after the incident.
