Elixir Aircraft Makes Another Sale to Airbus Flight Academy Europe

With 4 Delivered, 4 More Are Ordered

Elixir Aircraft sold a handful of brand-new 4th generation Part 23 aircraft to Airbus Flight Academy Europe, highlighting their approved all-glass cockpit.

The new EASA-certified flight deck layout allows the French concern to offer customers an affordable, but still sufficiently future-forward product for the training market. The 100-horsepower Elixir isn't a firebreather by any means, but it makes for a tractable, tame learning companion as future airline pilots learn the ins and outs of aircraft operation.

Airbus Flight Academy Europe sees its new Elixirs as an easy, achievable way to reduce carbon emissions in the course of their normal operations, adding another 4 planes to their order books. Those next aircraft are slated for delivery in 2024, not too surprising given Elixir's lofty production goals. At the moment, Elixir Aircraft has more than 80 firm orders on hand, and pre-orders for at least 200 more.

They have expanded into 2 production sites in their homeland, one a larger 23,000-sq ft facility, and the other a more modest 9,000-sq ft locale. Overall, Elixir hit the ground running, adding more than half their 140-strong workforce since 2021. Their simple, reliable little 2-seater is said to run operators somewhere around $60 per hour for fuel and maintenance, helped largely by the modestly powered but well-sorted Rotax 912iS they come equipped with. Given the EU's aggressive anti-carbon emissions activities, it's a strong selling point to offer a trainer that cuts them by "nearly 70% compared to older generation aircraft."
