NBAA Announces 2014 Baldwin Business Aviation Management Scholarships

Award Presented During Leadership Conference To Recognize Aspiring Aviation Managers

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) today announced the recipients of its Donald A. Baldwin Sr. Business Aviation Management Scholarship, which benefits individuals seeking to become NBAA Certified Aviation Managers (CAMs). The scholarship, which is given annually in coordination with the family of Donald A. Baldwin Sr., promotes professional development in business aviation by providing financial support for qualified CAM exam candidates.

The scholarship is named for Donald A. Baldwin Sr., an accomplished general aviation pilot who served on NBAA's Board of Directors from 1968 to 1971. In his lifetime, he was recognized for his contributions to business aviation with the NBAA John P. "Jack" Doswell Award and the Flight Safety Foundation Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award.

The recipients are:

  • Shaun Gerber, a flight operations captain with TEG Architects, Jeffersonville, IN. He is a graduate of Purdue University as well as a flight instructor there and has an ATP rating. He says the CAM program will help him to reach his careers goals to earn a position with management responsibilities within an aviation flight department. Gerber has a master’s degree in aviation and aerospace management.
  • Andrew Brigman, a Part 135 Captain with Jet Linx Aviation in Dallas, TX, with an ATP rating. He thinks that the CAM certification will add another level to his dedication to the business aviation market. He has been a King Air chief pilot and a first officer in a citation series. Brigman is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

The scholarships were awarded at NBAA's 2014 Leadership Conference, held Feb. 18 to 20, in Atlanta, GA. The Baldwin Business Aviation Management Scholarship is one of several scholarships offered by NBAA to promote professional development and business aviation careers.

NBAA's CAM program identifies qualified professionals to lead flight departments and companies that use business aircraft. The CAM exam is provided several times per year in a computer-based testing format. To be eligible for the exam, participants must have been pre-qualified and approved through a formal application process.
