Robinson R66 Mil Fleet Exceeds 2,300 Hours In Seven Months

Deployed In Army, Navy/Marines/Coast Guard Training Activities In Florida And Texas

Robinson Helicopter Company announced that in the course of just seven months, its combined fleet of six R66 helicopters has accumulated more than 2,300 flight hours for an average of roughly 55 hours per aircraft per month. This demonstrates the durability and reliability of the R66 in a rigorous training environment.

The success of the R66 in the current deployment for military training validates its effectiveness and bodes well for the company's future, as the R66 is in the running along with multiple bids for the Flight School Next Program of the U.S. Army’s initiative to modernize helicopter pilot training by focusing on real-world scenarios to build the skills necessary to prepare aviators faster and more effectively for the future needs of the Army.

David Smith, President and CEO of Robinson Helicopter Company said, “The R66’s strong performance in these early training missions speaks for itself. Logging over 2,300 flight hours with sustained operational availability confirms its capability to deliver the essential flight hours required to prepare future military rotorcraft pilots. The extremely low rate of unscheduled maintenance events directly drives flight line efficiency, ensuring maximum time in the air for our future aviators.”

Robinson also provides an advantage in that the manufacturing of all its helicopter models, including the R66, is done in its facility in Torrance, California. There, the highly vertically integrated facility manufactures more than 85% of all the parts required for its helicopters. Such a strategy for manufacturing reduces the reliance on foreign nations or a global supply chain compared to some competitors. This ensures stability and security for long-term support of the fleet.
