ERAU-Worldwide Will Present At Drone World Expo

To Offer sUAS Safety And Operational Familiarization Workshop

Drone World Expo 2016, in conjunction with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University - Worldwide, has launched an all new workshop – “Multirotor sUAS Safety and Operational Familiarization for the Commercial Operator.” This one-day, hands-on course, to be offered as a pre-event workshop at Drone World Expo on Monday, November 14th at the San Jose Convention Center, introduces small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) commercial operators to topics and concepts essential for safe, legal, and responsible use of multirotor systems within the U.S. National Airspace System.

"With the release of Part 107, we are looking forward to helping entrepreneurs, businesses, and new entrants into this field better understand fundamental operational concepts and rules. Our sUAS multirotor familiarization workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about best practices in aviation, while also building and applying critical knowledge, skills, and abilities to help ensure safe and appropriate sUAS operations in the National Airspace System." said Dr. Brent Terwilliger, Program Chair of the Master of Unmanned Systems degree, UAS Discipline Chair, and full-time Assistant Professor of Aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide.

The workshop features an overview of sUAS designs, regulations including the just-released FAA Part 107 rule, community-based guidelines and safety practices, operational planning and risk management, and practice through interactive use of modeling and simulation tools and hands-on multirotor flying in the Drone World Expo demonstration area. Participants will gain exposure to essential aeronautical knowledge and experience with regulatory requirement compliance and application of best practices, as applicable to commercial and functional operations.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Embry-Riddle to offer this important course for commercial drone users to become familiar with sUAS safety and operations. Attendees will come away from this intensive workshop with a Certificate of Completion and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from this prestigious aeronautical university,” said Joelle Coretti, Event Director, Drone World Expo. “Access to Drone World Expo’s 2-day conference and exhibition is also included with the workshop registration.”

Through the successful completion of this course, operators will better understand and practice the requirements for appropriate use, acquire and register a personal multirotor sUAS (an optional drone platform will be available for an additional fee, but not required for the course), and gain critical operational experience with an actual system.

The workshop will be offered on Monday, November 14th – the day before Drone World Expo 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Registrations for both the course and Drone World Expo 2016 are open. Early Registration Price is $495 until September 15, 2016. Regular Registration Price is $595 through November 11, 2016. Visit this link to register for this workshop and Drone World Expo.
