Sandel Avionics Selects WSI InFlight Graphical Aviation WX

Sandel to add WSI aviation weather capability to products

Yet another surprise popped up as AOPA Expo 2003 came to  close. WSI Corp. and Sandel Avionics, Inc. have announced their collective intenctions to integrate WSI InFlight with Sandel's line of situational awareness displays. The FAA-certified WSI InFlight aviation weather system will improve safety by delivering WSI NOWrad radar mosaic weather imagery and other mission critical aviation weather information on the Sandel display.

"WSI InFlight will significantly increase the operational and safety benefits delivered by Sandel's products. As Sandel moves forward, we will be able to bring together functions such as HSI, RMI, TAWS, and navigation maps with data-link weather graphics onto a single unit," said Gerry Block, President of Sandel. "One of Sandel's board members has been flying with WSI InFlight and finds it to be a superb situational awareness system," continued Block.

"WSI is pleased to be selected by Sandel as its cockpit weather system and to be associated with another market leading avionics display manufacturer. Sandel provides general aviation, corporate and regional airline customers with fantastic solutions that affordably improve the safety and utility of flight operations," said Lynne Wilson, Executive Vice President of WSI's Aviation and Marine Business Group.

The WSI InFlight system uses satellite technology to continuously broadcast the accurate, up-to-date weather and related mission critical information to any aircraft equipped with WSI's special purpose antenna and receiver. WSI InFlight delivers high quality radar mosaic, WSI's NOWrad, depicting areas of rain, snow and mixed precipitation, along with echo tops and movement, graphical and textual surface observations (METARs) and Terminal Area Forecasts (TAFs), plotted SIGMETs and AIRMETs direct to the cockpit.
