Blue Origin’s New Glenn Wins NSSL Contract

One Of Three Space Systems Command Contracts Awarded In April

Blue Origin announced the award of a contract from the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command for its New Glenn heavy lift vehicle for a series of National Security Space Launch (NSSL) Phase 3 Lane 2 launches that require higher performance systems to deliver payloads to stressing orbits and assurance as a Space Systems Command certified launch vehicle.

The contract stipulates New Glenn perform tasks to deliver payloads that support America’s strategic advantage in space. It is the third NSSL-related contract for Blue Origin in the past year. In 2024 Blur Origin won a contract to compete for Phase 3 Lane 1 as well as one to compete for missions in the Orbital Services Program-4, allowing New Glenn to compete for task orders to put capabilities on orbit within two years.

The award provides Blue Origin an opportunity to support the Department of Defense and the National Reconnaissance Office. It also represents a critical step to expand the choice of launch providers and sustained competition for assured access to space.

Jarrett Jones, SVP for New Glenn said, “It's an honor and huge responsibility to team with the U.S. Government to launch our nation’s most important assets. Through this partnership, we’re looking forward to delivering on a number of critical national security priorities.”

Gen. Chance Saltzman, U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations said, "A robust and resilient space launch architecture is the foundation of both our economic prosperity and our national security. National Security Space Launch isn’t just a program; it's a strategic necessity that delivers the critical space capabilities our warfighters depend on to fight and win."
