National Drone Safety Board And Education Coalition Formed

Goal Is To Combat Near Misses And Collisions

The National Drone Safety board and Drone Education Coalition has been created to assist in the creation of education modules for Drone Pilots in preparation for the Unmanned Pilots Requirements for the FAA.

Currently the 333 Exemption issued by the FAA for an individual or company to legally operate a Drone for commercial purposes is only for exempting the aircraft, as a result of this, the pilot/operator must have a manned aircraft sport pilots license at minimum for legal compliance to operate an unmanned aircraft in the National Airspace System. This Safety Board and Education Coalition has the opportunity to assist the FAA in these challenges and beyond.

In a news release announcing the coalition, the organizers said that as we progress with the integration of sUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) in the NAS (National Airspace System) it is clear that the manned pilots requirements are not going to allow US Veterans and US Citizens with physical limitations to seek gainful career opportunities as unmanned pilots. This is a similar moment in time for the United States as those moments experienced when motorized vehicles and manned flight navigated through the legislative, legal, liability, and operator requirements that such transitions create.

The organization says that with the experience, knowledge, and resources of represented on the board, comprised of industry professionals, it is equipped to address this challenge and the challenges of creating drone education platforms for our youth and the vocational challenges such transitions manifest.
