Abu Dhabi Launches World’s First Vertiport Network

Initiative Connects Main Destinations Around City

Abu Dhabi announced on November 10, 2025, it is commencing on the world’s first vertiport network as a first step in remaking urban transportation. The project will connect several strategic destinations across the city with electric VTOL aircraft while also providing fast travel options that save time with lower emissions.

The project is also intended as a showcase for advancing the concept of modern urban air mobility, and the network anticipates the first eVTOL flights in 2026 with a phased rollout over ten public vertiports located at critical urban transit locations.

The major project is in alignment with Abu Dhabi’s wider goal of promoting sustainable transportation and economic diversification led by innovation that places the city in the lead of implementing next-generation mobility.

The scope of the project with its 10 planned vertiports will make travel within the emirate more efficient and environmentally friendly. The network is a collaborative effort between Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), and  Abu Dhabi Airports (ADA).

The centerpiece of the initiative is the deployment of eVTOL aircraft that will provide rapid, efficient, and low-emission travel across principal locations in the city. The vertiport network will enable smooth operation of the aircraft that will link crucial business, tourism, and residential destinations within the emirate.

Confirmed locations include Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Al Bateen Executive Airport (AZI) which will be primary hubs for the network. Future sites are likely to include Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal, and Abu Dhabi Island.
