Classic Aero-TV: The 2016 AMA Expo--Aero-Beginnings, Aero-Roots, Aero-Innovation

From 2016 (YouTube Version): For So Many.... This Is Where Aviation Begins

In this video taken at the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) 2016 Expo held in Ontario, California, we see ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, throw objective reporting out the window as he blatantly proclaims his love for the hobby of model aviation.

Jim even recalls back to being 12 years-old when he first started in aviation through model aircraft.

Jim says that if you want to see excitement and innovation in aviation, the AMA Expo is the place to be. Jim provides the introduction, and the video does the rest.

The video shows model aircraft, and some cars, in operation but there’s more to it than that. Take a look at the people in the video as well. With the advancements in radio controlled technology, and the reasonability of the cost, it’s truly a family recreational activity.

The AMA has a membership of about 185,000 people and they operate model aircraft, and other model disciplines while complying with the safety guidelines required of them through their AMA membership. Their system of self-regulating safety has been in effect since 1936.

If you’re not familiar with modern model aviation and the AMA, this video is a great starting place to learn about it. Warning: watching this video could lead to becoming a model aircraft enthusiast.
